The EO/IR sensor, commonly known as the FLIR camera contains a GPS and an Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU).  Together, these devices are able to accurately determine the position of the EO/IR sensor in ‘space’ - or more simply - in the sky.  MISSIONMAP receives telemetry data from the EO/IR sensor’s IMU and GPS which is then interpreted to display the position of the aircraft, and where the EO/IR camera is pointing on a map.  MISSIONMAP is also able to control the EO/IR sensor by sending it an instruction to point at, and stay ‘locked’ onto a set of co-ordinates.


With a compatible gyrostabilised EO/IR sensor, MISSIONMAP lets you:

  • Point the camera at addresses

  • Point the camera at points of interest

  • Point the camera at UTM grid references

  • Point the camera at a latitude/longitude

  • Point the camera at user provided data such as fuel depots, landing sites, observations posts etc.

  • Track an object that has been "thermally locked"


When viewing a target with the camera, you can 'mark' and store position information such as:

  • Latitude/longitude

  • Elevation

  • Street address

  • Suburb | Locality | State

  • UTM grid references

  • Street directory grid reference

  • Topographic map name
